Do I need to be able to speak French to study at ESG UQAM?

Yes. Although many courses are offered in English, the majority are taught in French. If your college or equivalent studies were completed in a language other than French, then you will be required to submit the results of the “Test de français international” (TFI – international French language proficiency test), or an equivalent test, upon admission.

Do I have to take a French placement test to study at ESG UQAM?

If your college or equivalent studies were completed in a language other than French, you will be required to submit the results of the “Test de français international” (TFI – international French language proficiency test), or an equivalent, upon admission.

Do I have to take an English placement test to study at ESG UQAM?

If you want to take an English language class at the École de langues, you will have to take a placement test.

If you are enrolled in an undergraduate program in business administration, you will have to take an English language test and pass the Intermediate level to graduate from your program.

If you want to take a course taught in English, you do not have to take an English language test. However, you must use your best judgement when determining your ability to follow the course material. Intermediate level proficiency in English is strongly recommended.

Can I take my courses in English?

Yes, based on the current availability. Please note that sections 65-66-67 are courses taught in English.

Does taking a course in English exempt me from the graduation requirement?

No, you still have to take an English test.

My program requires that I take a course taught in English. How do I select it?

If you look through the list of courses offered in English (sections 65-66-67), you will find the ones available as part of your program. All you have to do is register for the section taught in English. To register, you will have to contact your program.

Are programs offered 100% in English?

There are no programs taught entirely in English at ESG UQAM in the Montreal area. However, some of our partner universities teach the Executive MBA program in English and Spanish. You can consult the list here. 

Can I enrol in a program offered abroad?

To register for a program offered abroad, you must apply through the partner university in question.
