On May 3 and 4, 2023, we are doubly pleased to
welcome Philippe Aghion from Collège de France,
INSEAD and the London School of Economics, an
internationally recognized authority in economics,
who will receive an honorary doctorate from the
Université du Québec à Montréal and to welcome
you to this conference on The Foundations and
Economic Impacts of Innovation. It is a great
opportunity to honor Philippe Aghion by receiving
20 speakers and panellists on topics that are dear
to him, at the frontier of knowledge in economics
with practical implications on themes centered on
innovation. The conference will conclude with the
honorary doctorate ceremony, followed by a
plenary address by Philippe Aghion.
We sincerely thank our speakers and panellists for
accepting our invitation to participate in the
workshops and roundtables. There is no doubt that
these activities will stimulate reflection and
exchange. These academics and researchers
working in renowned institutions and the public
decision-makers and people from the business
world gathered on this occasion have in common
an interest and commitment to innovation which,
more than a buzzword, is an indispensable key to
sustainable economic development.
This conference is being held under the aegis of
the Chair in Macroeconomics and Forecasting at
ESG-UQAM with the Department of Economics as
part of the ESG Major Conferences and we want to
express our gratitude to the generous partners of
the conference, who appear in this program.
